There are several fence memorials on the Camino. Where we could, we expanded symbols of faith (or not).

Recalling Fences

I wonder,

If I will ever look

At a long wire fence

And not call to mind

The many meters of fencing

Along the Camino de Santiago,

Filled with crosses of sticks,

Surrounded with crosses of stones,

And the one Star of David

Along with the Celtic knot,

We added to represent US —

The atheists, agnostics, Jews, Muslims

Pagans, Hindus, Scientists, and Yogis

Who joined the Christians on

That road.
